Welcome to the Get Started guide. This guide helps you to add surveillance cameras to the Smartlens software and set them up according to your preferences. It also guides you to connect your mobile device to it so that you can monitor the cameras from anywhere.
In this guide, we will discuss how you can:
Adding a camera to the Smartlens software
The Smartlens software detects the available cameras automatically and displays them in the Quick Add Available Cameras section on the main application window. You can only add two cameras at a time. The section is highlighted in the image below.
You can also manually add a camera by clicking on the + Add Camera button on the main application window. The button is highlighted in the image below.
Yet, another way of adding a camera is through the ManageCamera tab. You can access it by clicking the Manage option in the Control Panel.
This takes you to the ManageCamera window displayed below. To add a camera, you can click the + Add Camera button or select a camera from the Quick Add Available Cameras section here. Both are highlighted in the image below.
Adding the camera manually
Please fill the following information here in the Camera Settings according to the details provided by the camera manufacturer.
|URL ➔||The default IP address is provided by the camera manufacturer. It is possible that the IP address is different from your network address. In that case, you will have to change the camera’s network address with a dedicate software which the camera manufacturer has provided.|
|PORT ➔||This is the default port that the camera is listening too. This information also provided by the camera manufacturer.|
|User ➔||This is the user name for the camera. This information is provided by the camera manufacturer.|
|Password ➔||This is the password for the camera. This information is also provided by the camera manufacturer.|
The rest of the information here needs to be entered by you.
The Test & Confirm button allows you to check if the connection information that you have entered is correct. You don’t have to press the Test & Confirm button if you are sure that the information provided by you is correct. You can directly press the Save button to add the camera to the system.
Customizing the theme of the application
You can change the way your Smartlens software looks by selecting either the Dark or the Light option from the Theme slider on the Settings page. It has been highlighted for you in the image below.

Connecting a mobile device to the software
To connect your mobile device to the camera using the Smartlens mobile app, you need to scan the QR code displayed on the WebService section of the Settings page of the Smartlens software. Once the QR code, is scanned, it automatically picks up the Server IP address, Port and Password from the software.
If the app fails to pick up these details, you need to manually enter the Server IP address, Port and the Password on the login page of the app to connect to the camera.
